Corn Brook Weir Next to the Bridgewater Canal Looking Towards Trafford

Corn Brook Weir Next to the Bridgewater Canal Looking Towards Trafford

T2493  As well as designing the Cloverleaf Weir at Potato Wharf, Brindley had to overcome the problem of traversing the Corn Brook at Pomona. He did this by building a tunnel which carried the Brook under the Bridgewater Canal. Whilst doing this he added a weir that would take any flood water from the Canal into the River Irwell. In this photograph the Brook can be seen pouring into the Weir that then takes it under the Canal.
