Alphabet Bridge at Worsley

Alphabet Bridge at Worsley

T2866  This bridge is known as the Alphabet Bridge due to its 26 planks, which were used by children to practice the letters of the alphabet and still help young scholars today. The Bridge stands next to the eighteenth century Packet House, see here in the background, on the Bridgewater Canal.
