Trafford Park Power Station

Trafford Park Power Station

Go back to the map or view all the records from this map.

T2083. The power station in Trafford Park had been originally built and run by W. & T. Glover Company Ltd. The coal was unloaded from the barges on the opposite side of the canal by means of suction. The coal was sucked out by means of 7 inch flexible pipes and stored in bunkers with a total capacity of a thousand tons. The long covered way, running diagonally across the picture, took the coal from the storage area into the power station when it was needed. You can just make out two pipes hanging down into one of the barges on the left bank of the canal and also one on the right of the canal.
