Canal Archive: Bridging the Years

It is hard to imagine today but Trafford Park was once a green, tree-covered estate, complete with historic house, ornamental lake and roaming deer. Ancestral home for the de Traffords for generations, it is thought that the land had been in the family's hands since medieval times. Today the Park is home to many businesses providing various products and services, the result of a process which started in 1896 and led to the development of the first planned industrial estate in the country and possibly the world.
